Lydia was a very special lady. We remember her coming to Mart's office & helping him when he was starting out. "Helping is the key word-that was Lydia; always wanting to help. We will miss her dearly. Find strength in her memories. Please come visit & keep in touch. Carol & Mart

Words alone can't describe the hole left in my life by Lydia's passing. I lost a friend that had been part of my life for over forty years. Through the shared good times as well as many tough moments, Lydia's friendship was a cherished constant in my life. I think of her every day and mostly I smile at the happy memories. The vacations, gambling expeditions, shared anniversaries, even the shared meals and phone calls are all cherished memories. I still can hear her laughter. It is truly a privilege to have been her friend.

I was deeply saddened this morning when I heard of Lydia's passing on. Over the years, I worked with Lydia on a professional level, and because of my relationship with Herb and his and Lydia's connection with my folks, Lydia always found time to share her family with me. And I always enjoyed talking with her, because I knew that's who she was. Her children, her extended family and her husband Herb meant the world to her. Those who live in the hearts of others never die. She will be remembered always.

It is difficult to express the feelings Gary and I have for Lydia. While we deeply grieve her passing, we cherish the memories of times spent together, both as family and as friends. She was our friend, our contemporary, and most importantly, my confidant. Her courage, compassion, and generosity will remain in our hearts always, but mostly, it is the way she spent 'her dash' that is the most meaningful to us. Her memory is a blessing and she will be defined by her legacy that resides in all those she touched with love, truth, and respect.

We want to offer our sympathies to the family. While we only saw Lydia occassionally the past several years (at warm gatherings of friends and family at the Meyer household),we will always cherish our summer retreats in Newport, RI with the Camp Jori families.

We always felt that Ellen & Gary were so lucky to have Lydia & Herb as their daughter Jill's in-laws. They brought laughter and energy to every occasion that we shared. Lydia loved Jill like her own daughter. She was a woman who knew how to make everyone feel special. Our deepest condolences to Herb, Nancy and Russ.

Nancy, Oster family, my thoughts are with you. Lydia was so special. I was very lucky to have spent so much time with Nancy in the Oster family home growning up. Lydia and Herb and Russ welcomed me like family. I was able to see firsthand how special Nancys relationship with her mom was and what an amazing woman Lydia was. Lydia eminated kindness and warmth. I will always remember Lydia with a beautiful smile on her face and a sparkle in hers eyes. love, sarah

Herb, we were so sorry to hear of Lydia's passing. She was a lady of grace and intelligence and we considered her a true friend. From the day she entered our store many years ago to ask if she could help us with insurance we knew that she was a wonderful person. Her smile said it all. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. She will always be remembered in our hearts and prayers.

Many have spoken of Lydia's strength, courage and commitment. I could tell you first hand that she possessed these qualities in every aspect of her life. I had the privilege of being Lydia's Personal Trainer for 10 years. She was determined to to stay physically strong when she was well and mentally strong when she was ill. Lydia was an excellent role model for myself as well as many others. I looked forward to seeing Lydia twice a week and hearing stories about Russ,Jill and Ryan and Nancy,Jared and Sydney and of course Herb. I enjoyed all of the latest pictures sent by email. I think of her often and miss her deeply. My thoughts go out to all of you and hope you take solace in knowing how much she loved her entire family.

I did not know Lydia for as many years as Len, but I loved her as if I knew her forever. We became fast friends, and knowing the Osters has enriched ourlives enormously. It was a privilege and honor to be Lydia (and Herb's) friends.
