Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation

When Lydia's breast cancer returned in August of 2006, it was diagnosed as "triple negative," meaning that it was estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative and HER2-negative.

Unfortunately, the most effective cancer treatments target tumors that are receptive to one or all of the above.

Triple negative tumors are incredibly aggressive and research into treatment options for them are lagging behind research in to receptor positive tumors.

The Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation is focused on changing that. Please visit their web site and learn about their fight and the touching story behind their creation.

Lydia would ask for nothing less than a breakthrough in the treatment of triple negative tumors so that no woman will have to repeat her experience

Belmont Child Care Association

Lydia was a tremendous asset and sometimes the only volunteer at the Belmont Child Care Association. Created to care for the children of parents working at New York area racetracks, Lydia paid special attention to the youngest children at Anna House and worked tirelessly to give them a head start on life's challenges.

Lydia gave generously of her time and her resources. She was committed to causes that sought to help those in need. And everything she touched, she had an incredible impact on.

Each holiday season, Lydia and Herb's mailbox would be stuffed with requests from charities that Lydia had given to in the past. Herb would joke that her generosity would bankrupt them.

To her final days, Lydia felt fortunate for everything she had in her life and it showed in her desire to do anything she could for those in need
